I worked with one young girl 8 years old who had a severe case of Epilepsy. About every 6 months she would faint and go into a comma lasting for 2 to 4 days. After doing some work with her on breathing over one summer, the period between each episode diminished considerably. They appeared about every one and a half to three years.
During a visit one summer with her mom she had a seizure and was in comma for about 15 minutes before I got to her. She was completely still and had no apparent breathing action. My first impulse was to start the breathing action by blowing hard into her mouth and lungs. With just one quick burst of air she moved, threw up, and started to gasp for air and then she was breathing. Within 5 minutes she was a little dazed but fine.
That was 1977 and she has not had another attack since. She has gone to college and is now supporting herself and living on her own.
I have only treated a handful of cases with mild forms of epilepsy. In each case the clients reported a release from the problem of Epilepsy after one or two sessions. They also felt a relaxation from the terrible concern that this illness brings.
Generally I have found that there is a stillness in the upper body of each case where there is very little action from breathing. This stillness could be cramping the muscles of the upper shoulders, neck and head that can cause the nerve lines to be cramped. When full breathing is used and alignment starts to appear it seems the problem of epilepsy starts to recede.
Through breathing one also becomes more aware of the activity of the mind and may be able to monitor the outbreaks and onset of the different forms of seizures.
Please click on the breathing session and start working with the dynamics of your own breathing action. You should also find a therapist that gives deep breathing sessions. I am sure you will be able to make progress the natural way working with your friend the body and alignment breathing.
Where there is the occasion of (grand mal) please work with a doctor and competent therapist. However, doing the breathing session can help you to become more physically oriented with the space around you and the mental metabolism of the mind.
Good Luck!
