65. Health~~~Wealth~~~Happiness 12/12/2004
The teachings are not really
like "do-it-yourself" books. They do not go through every point down to the last
detail. They just indicate, give hints. The teachings are an awakening process
to rouse you to the situation, rather than a compendium of step-by step,
specific guidance. The teachings gives hints, and you are inspired to go out and
develop them. Then you find that you can do it. That is the whole process.
Spontaneity and basic intelligence become extremely important. They begin to
function independently when confusion begins to arise. That is what is meant by
the notion of universal guru.

This entry is of some journal notes on various ideas, random and not fully formed, yet I felt to present them in this form as an exercise in journaling rather then writing an article. Enjoy!
Breathing is an essential part of our moment to moment
experience. To relegate it to spirituality or a practice one does for a
scheduled period of time I feel, limits our perspective of the usefulness of
breathing as a form of being more fully in the moment with all the sense doors
open. This includes the cells, brain, and other systems of perception not
necessary available to the conscious mind. I think a good way of being aware of
this state comes when we feel like a child. A child that can no longer be
fooled, because the open senses of the body feel what resonates with truth and
will move away from what feels like a downward pull.
Something I observed during the periods of psychoanalysis of the 60’s and seventies was, when people were in a bad relationship, by talking about it they where usually out of the relationship in about six months. I also observed that in working with breathing and alignment, folks that wanted out of a relationship or situation moved much faster. Generally, feeling they couldn’t physically stay in their relationship because, they felt sick or nauseous or just an obvious downright uncomfortable feeling that bordered on intolerable.
As far as coming out of physical problems there is a measurable release from the problems, sometimes bordering on the miraculous. This week that is the very description from the wife and friends of a man I worked with in three sessions. They all felt his back problem and curvature was a down hill ride that would lead him to immobility. Accuracy does shrink the time it takes to move (in this case 4 hours) from discomfort to comfort.
On the feeling or emotional level, a spectrum of possibilities along the time line of evolution implores us to trust our own processes of form. If we absorb good works of literature and metaphysics, including current psycho spiritual teachings with there embracive and integrative suggestions, we are less apt to have philosophical indigestion.
From Ken Wilber we hear of the 5 year trek through the stages (Spiral Dynamics) or colors, if you will, to the heavenly doors of yellow and aqua. That being, a fair assessment of the length of time for people, based on current agreement of many gifted people, to move to a new developmental stage, the natural question arises: Can we speed this time change up? “Why not?” said the Zen master.
Could it be that the child born as god, bringing with it source connection, is ready to acknowledge what’s true, good and beautiful from the get go, or at any age of development? Can we wake up the physical level of consciousness in a being with the introduction of some simple physical process of breathing? Can this lead to a continuance of immersion of body and soul? “Why not?”. Sure is worth some discussion of the integral community.
From my perspective, one big problem is, being pressured out of our form and our basic goodness. Learning about our own physical alignment, which includes breathing as a tool, puts us in touch with the inner potentials of our intuitive evolving nature. From there, we journey with the body as a friend that can be trusted to read the resonances in the now.
What I am feeling is, that a person at blue or orange stage of development can move faster if they are introduced to a breathing practice, without dogmas, that brings them closer to the child mind they came in with. As many know, working with the breath and body has a lot of play in it and does touch those resonate areas in us that feel so good. Out of necessity, a body opened, will gravitate towards what feels right or good and tends to repel what is harmful. This evolutionary tendency is based on what many mystics call 'Basic Goodness' of our natural state.
Even higher stages of development, I believe, would experience an acceleration of union with child mind and form, since they are so focused on this goal. I have no trouble working with any of the developmental stages, since bodies are universal models that respond to arches, breath, connecting, and resonating with external space.
This really is not much different when viewing the spectrum of health, where we view this spectrum from physically ill and suffering at one end, to the person who is in tip top shape or a professional in a performance area. The physically suffering responds rapidly to the natural solutions of health, especially bodywork that includes alignment and breathwork. While the performer can hone their skills by opening the body because, this is what they are looking for in their training.
Natural evolution, to me, is a “basic goodness” tendency living in us, which
scuttles the notion, we are born dormant. Tapping this source can accelerate the
tasks we have of creating a planet we can invite our terrestrial neighbors to
for dinner. Then life will be a matter of what foods to prepare and what wines
to buy for the next life lesson our fellow travelers bring. Who knows, maybe
they will pick up some good ideas from us earthlings, like fielding a team to
compete in the Cosmic Bowl.

Impermanence
How impermanent is our knowledge and or what we think we know, for the next moment opens up its truth and our systems are completely altered. Best to let it do itself!
1. Health~~~Wealth ~~~Happiness
This Triangle is composed of
Health, which is generally obvious.
Wealth, encompasses, to me, artful living in the world.
Happiness, The spontaneous, intuitive later stage journey and arrival to the other shore.
Fulfillment of this triads composition includes our journeying back, where we share the vision of our own Journey with others.
“To know the road ahead, ask those coming back”. -Chinese Proverb
2. Body~~~Mind~~~Soul
Overlying # 2 on the first triangle gives us the 3 areas that we can work in to
assist #1.
Any forward looking work we do at one point of the triangle
carries over to the other two points. In this sense, with respectful intentions
to work on our selves we are moving step by step to being self realized. Self
realization doesn’t have to be a distant goal, we are right now, right here,
being happy with that, which works for us.

Filling our needs, identified by Tony Robbins, come into play.
Need 1: Certainty/Comfort
Need 2: Uncertainty/Variety
Need 3: Significance
Need 4: Connection/Love
Need 5: Growth
Need 6: Contribution
{} Prayer: May all your needs be fulfilled.
I like this little package of real needs that we seem to have. Gives a fuller working picture for accomplishing something to feel good about.
Need 2: is a surprise. But of course the spontaneous now has a quality that fulfills this need, while the humdrum, routines of being a goody, goody tend to nullify this need. The notion of Gurdjieff, that we become subjected to less and less laws as we grow, may suggest more variety in our living.
However, limitation also comes with the territory. A good example can be drawn from the game of chess; the more you study the game the more specific or limited are the choices on the board. Which, also indicates that mastership or refining our nature, which moves us through a landscape, limits our choices. We could also say that we vacillate less and we know, yes, that feels good, true and beautiful.
Tangibles and Intangibles.
1. The material plane provides Tangible goodies for our nourishment
2. The Intangibles are of the inner worlds of energy, where our interaction is processed and redistributed for all to see. An example; if we eat at Micky D’s a lot, the outer will see the weight gain and the complexion that comes with eating, god knows what, and people will wonder why you don’t smile.
Another example; Reading the good books of life and your light shines with a wonder at the wealth of the human mind. Then others look at you in wonder and realize you are having a good time, having fun and smiling a lot.
Another example; Feeling Breath, calmness, and gentleness you radiate warmth having a resonance with all life. Others will hear the message in your word and awake to the evolving nature of being on the material plane.

The four R’s identified by Jean Houston
Ritual
Rhythm
Resonance
Regeneration
Feeding our Body by ritualized appreciation of what is true sets the rhythm for the dance of life which expresses a resonance with nature that has regenerative reverberations in the kosmos.
An example; Acknowledging other, as you would a beautiful flower, sets the rhythm for the dance of two souls delighted in resonate play. Then the Lotus Blossom opens and the child is born.

I got this quote/gift from Jordan Gruber’s last news letter.**
“A famous William James quote that sums it up pretty well is as follows:
Pragmatism asks its usual question. "Grant an idea or belief to be true," it
says, "what concrete difference will its being true make in anyone's actual
life? How will the truth be realized? What experiences will be different from
those which would obtain if the belief were false? What, in short, is the
truth's cash-value in experiential terms?"
--Pragmatism (1907)”
Just a wonderful notion for us to see that our barometer, how we feel emotionally and physically, is essential to selecting what works for us. As is often said; “The map is not the terrain”. We may use a map but then there are nice little spots, not on the map, where it is worth a pause to admire trees and butterflies.
We are the living experience of god. But what a char-actor is this form full of perspectives. Actively being acquainted with the different possibilities of manifesting, in unique ways, mortality asks the best of us. The best being given, all regrets fade away and this multifaceted character has us rolling in the isles.
“I don’t want to locate myself only by geography (however strongly I acknowledge its power and point), or books, or beliefs. I want to be located in every breath I take.” -- Padma Perera.
Peace.
