“Creativity isn’t the monopoly of artists. This is the crucial fact I’ve come to realize, and this broader concept of creativity is my concept of art. When I say everybody is an artist, I mean everybody can determine the content of life in his particular sphere, whether in painting, music, engineering, caring for the sick, the economy or whatever. All around us the fundamentals of life are crying out to be shaped or created. But our idea of culture is severely restricted because we’ve always applied it to art. The dilemma of museums and other cultural institutions stems from the fact that culture is such an isolated field, and that art is even more isolated: an ivory tower in the field of culture surrounded first by the whole complex of culture and education, and then by the media which are also part of culture. We have a restricted idea of culture which debases everything; and it is the debased concept of art that has forced museums into their present weak and isolated position. Our concept of art must be universal and have the interdisciplinary nature of a university, and there must be a university department with a new concept of art and science”

1979, From an interview with Joseph Beuys by Frans Hak.

It is fitting that the Crop Circles coming to us from another dimension appear as works of art on our landscape. This is high art and language that asks for a sacred space for its performance. Must we protect the people from space beings that leave us symbols of sacred art? Naturally fear arises as the glance upon unfamiliar light blinds the conditioned mind. Fear is a physical condition that in the hands of breath can quickly dissolve. As the nurse says; “Take a breath!”. Breathing, to me, is very much a part of the high art of being alive.; We eat prana and burn the energy in the fire of an embracive compassion, love arises and sends the transformed energy back to the higher mind. With a smile the master says “this is good”.

This leads me to consider the body as an art form. As laughable as this may be to some, I do feel that when we appreciate the structure of the body in terms of its design we can easily recognize what feels true for us physically. By having an understanding of what constitutes physical alignment we are able to work with and feel the body as a graceful and dignified object-de-art. Should the body have postural problems and accumulated tensions then the application of alignment restores the organic integrity of the body. The moment we start with the application of alignment principles there is a result. An example that I have experienced on many occasions comes when I meet some one who tells me that they are having knee problems, some as long a ten years. I explain and get them to feel the arch and relax the knees on the spot. Then having the person stand or walk with alignment, I have experienced in every instance the problem seems to leave directly. To me this illustrates that the misuse of structure will create problems and that as soon as you present an accuracy for the design of the body the problem can dissolve. Then it becomes a working principle for the individual to apply. On the other end of the spectrum were the athlete is looking for the structural efficiencies that will help performance, the same principles will apply.

The principles of alignment also uses breathing in this multidimensional task of being physical. We all have tools for being healthier in many respects certainly breathing is part of most programs. The body working with breathing helps us maintain the dignity of structure where the organic processes function well and on the other hand our attention is directly connected with the breath. The mindfulness aspect of being with the breath is another element in the sound structural dynamics of alignment. Then the sculptured look of an erect, graceful and dignified body can be animated as an art form that reflects the comfort, peace and equanimity that come with being at home in the body. The animal body has all these ingredients as well as the ability to spontaneously respond to any life situation as required. This can be both friendly and dangerous with out any hesitation.

We are the artist capable of shaping both our body/mind and life directly.

“Who will paint what reality looks like when the ego is subsumed, when settling into the corpse pose, it dies to its own wonderment and beholds the world anew? Who will paint the rising landscape? Who will show us that?
Ken Wilber. One Taste.

Peace

Glad to see you are taking an interest in crop circles. There are some beautiful ones. We bought one of the calendars of crop circles a few seasons ago; it was quite impressive.
